We converted our storage shed into a cozy bathhouse

In December of 2021 we had the idea to convert our storage shed into a wood burning sauna and wellness cabin. We’ve been dreaming of owning a sauna since learning about the amazing health benefits and experiencing our first “löyly” years ago while on vacation. I’m not going to get into all the details and knitty gritty of the process at this time because it was long and tedious and I want to get to the good part, which is the before and after pictures! I will say that the only thing we really had to buy, and splurged on, was the stove. We went straight to the top on this since we wanted the best, and we were able to salvage and repurpose most everything else for the project. We chose to go with a Lamppa Kuuma stove for it’s quality craftsmanship and longevity. We wanted something that would last for decades and be enjoyed by our great grandchildren! We’re pretty stoked about the door handles, wall hooks and stove rocks too because they were all hand gathered by our family, including our grandchildren, from around the lake in bays, shores and streams. Me, my husband, and my father did all of the research, design, modification, and construction on the sauna cabin project. It was truly a labor of love and the final result a dream come true. Here is a slideshow of the before and after!
